If your hair is unmanageable and prone to itching, this can be a sign of dry scalp. Dry scalp can be a major threat if left untreated, as this tends to make itching of the scalp and several other complaints. There are many products available in the market claiming to have nourishing properties, but sticking to home remedy can be an easier and healthier alternative.


Causes of Dry Scalp
 
Excessive use of chemical products such as shampoos and conditioners on your hair can cause dry scalp by removing its natural moisture thus leading to dryness. Long exposure to extreme climatic conditions also cause dry scalp such as sitting in an office that is air conditioned or working long hours in the sun.

People who have the tendency to style their hair more often are also prone to dry scalp.

A dry scalp brings often certain symptoms, which allows it easy to find the condition. Itchiness and dandruff are some of the common symptoms for dry scalp. 


Natural Home Remedies for Scalp Itching

Tea tree oil- Tea tree oil with its powerful anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties makes a wonderful home remedy for dry scalp. Some natural oils offer excellent miniaturization, which fights itchiness, flakiness, and dryness and thereby avoid conditions related to dry scalp. It is important to remember that you should always dilute tea tree oil before applying to your scalp.



Honey and Lemon juice – This mixture works amazingly in treating a dry scalp. Applying this mixture taken equally to a dry scalp can help the condition treat naturally. 



Apple cider vinegar- This seems to be the super star of home remedy. You will find this in treating almost anything and everything. It should be diluted with water before applying.  Apple cider vinegar can help balance the pH of the scalp and relive from itching and dryness.



Coconut Oil - This is one of the widely used home remedy to treat dry scalp. Coconut oil restores the natural moisturize of the scalp and avoids flakiness and dryness of the scalp. Massage warm coconut oil gently onto the scalp, leave it on for an hour, and then wash. 



Olive Oil- Olive oil contains monounsaturated fatty acids and vitamin E that help to fight the dryness of the scalp. Heat olive oil and gently massage on your scalp and then leave it for half an hour and then wash your hair thoroughly.



Sesame oil- Just like other oils, sesame oil too nourish and moisture the scalp, thereby treating a dryness of the scalp. Massage the oil onto your scalp for ten minutes before shampooing.
