Home Remedies for Mumps



Mumps is a viral infection that affects the salivary gland known as parotid glands. It is highly a contagious virus. Once infected, the patient experience the swelling on parotid glands that are present just below the ears. This swelling usually lasts for about 7 to 9 days.

The symptoms associated with mumps are fever, pain while chewing and swallowing, swelling around the ovaries for women or testes for men in some cases. If you get the mumps once, you will not get it again in your lifetime.

Make a paste with ginger powder and apply it on the swollen parts.



Aloe vera gel is an excellent home remedy for treating mumps. Take a fresh piece of Aloe Vera leaf, cut open and rub the gel on the affected area to relieve from pain and swelling.



Use both warm or cold compress to reduce the pain of swollen glands.



Take rest till the fever goes away.



Take the herb Myroblan and make a thick paste from this herb and apply over the swollen area of the pumps.



Grind together fenugreek seeds and asparagus seeds to form a thick paste and apply it over the affected area to relieve the pain.



Margosa or neem leaves work wonders in treating mumps. Mix equal amount of neem powder with turmeric powder and makes a paste and apply on the swollen area. This will definitely give a wonderful result.



Stay away from acidic foods such as curds and citrus fruits.
