Home Remedies for Mouth Ulcers

A mouth ulcer is a sore in the mouth that is very painful. This appears on the gums, lips, inside the cheeks, and tongue. The first sign of the mouth ulcer can be a tingling and burning sensation inside the mouth. They occur either singly or in clusters. They are usually either white or yellow in color surrounded by red halos. Normally they heal within 5 to 7 days. There are three types of ulcers; minor, large, and Herpetiform ulcers.

Mouth Ulcer Causes

  1. Nutrition deficiency such as vitamins and iron content.
  2. Poor dental hygiene
  3. Certain food allergies
  4. Infections.
  5. The habit of biting the cheeks
  6. Hormonal imbalance

Home Remedies for Mouth Ulcers

Extract milk from the fresh coconut and gargle with this milk for 3 to 4 times a day.

Gargle alternately with one glass of cold water and one glass of hot water. Repeat this for several times.

Boil 2 cups of water and add few fenugreek leaves to it and remove, cover this with a lid for some time, strain the water and gargle with this water for several times a day.

Boil 1 tsp of coriander seeds in a cup of water, remove it when slightly warmer and gargle. Repeat this for 3 to 4 times a day.

Chew some tulsi (basil leaves) leaves and sip the juice of it. Repeat this for several times a day.

Eating raw tomatoes help get rid of mouth ulcers. Tomato juice can also be gargled for 3 to 4 times a day.

Mix a pinch of turmeric powder with 1 teaspoon of glycerine and apply it on affected area.
