Home Remedies for Lice



Lice are small insects that live on scalps. It survives by sucking blood from the scalp. Their eggs are known as nits. Nits are found glued to the base of the hair strands. The nits usually hatch after 7 to 10 days. Lice are found in human beings only. Though they are harmless, they make your head feel itchy. Lice infestation is generally observed in school children and among people work in large numbers.


Causes of Head Lice

Lice spread through head-to-head contact and through sharing of combs, brushes, and hair accessories. 

Home Remedies for Lice

Garlic and Lime



Make a paste with 1teaspoon of garlic paste and 1 teaspoon of lime juice and apply on scalp leaving for half an hour and then wash.

Almonds and Lime Juice



Grind 8 to 10 almonds with 2 to 3 teaspoons of limejuice and apply on hair, leave it for half an hour and then wash.

Tea tree oil



Mix 3 tablespoons of coconut oil or sesame oil or olive oil with a teaspoon of tea tree oil in a bowl and apply to the hair, leave it for 30 minutes and then shampoo your hair thoroughly. 

Vinegar



Vinegar helps in shedding the bodies of dead nits. Rinse your hair with apple cider vinegar thoroughly before and after shampooing.
Mix ¼ cup of salt and ¼  cup of vinegar thoroughly, and spray the mixture onto your hair till it becomes slightly wet. Use can use a shower cap to cover your head, leave it for about 2 hours and then wash your hair with shampoo.

Vaseline or Petroleum Jelly



Apply a layer of Vaseline or petroleum jelly to the scalp before going to bed. Cover head with a shower cap and then leave it on overnight. Use baby oil in the morning to remove the petroleum jelly and then comb your hair completely to remove the lice.

Mayonnaise



Apply Mayonnaise to the scalp before going to bed. Cover head with a shower cap and then leave it on overnight. Use baby oil in the morning to remove the petroleum jelly and then comb your hair completely to remove the lice.
